How to: Kombucha + Workshop

This class is for beginners looking to start making kombucha on their own. You would be surprised how easy it can be! The class will feature: the healing benefits of kombucha, how to make it yourself, and address any questions you may have. We will also be taste testing some kombucha! You will leave with a starter kombucha kit to begin your wonderful DIY journey. Our instructor, Karen, is local Portage resident with 12 years of experience. Class is $20 per person and includes your starter kit. Come, have fun and learn!

How to: Food Preservation + Workshop

Struggling with rising food costs? Having a hard time with the growing number of chemicals added to our food? We want to help teach you different ways of food preservation. In this class, we will explore dehydrating & canning so you can utilize preserving ingredients year-round! I’ll walk you through practical steps of preserving whole foods and utilizing all of it to minimize waste! This class will be followed by a canning workshop where we’ll create safe, delicious jars for your pantry. Whether you’re new or brushing up, we hope you leave confident and inspired to continue your preservation journey. Taught by community member Becky, who has loads of experience growing her own food and preserving her harvest ! Class is $20 and includes dehydrated samples and a take home handout

How to: Canning + Workshop

Becky is back for another class on food preservation! In this How To: Canning 101, we will either build upon what you learned in the food preservation class or you can jump in with this workshop! Becky fell in love with canning, and can’t wait to show you why. She sought out ways to serve her family whole foods with less chemicals and preserve her garden harvest so they would have access to home grown food year-round. This intro class is all about practical, fuss free techniques that work in a real kitchen, yours! We’ll cover the basics, go step by step and you’ll walk away with more confidence & know how to can your own food safely and deliciously. Class is $20 and includes a take home handout and your very own canned pineapple!

Basics of Herbalism Class

Curious about herbal remedies but not sure where to start? This introductory class explores the foundations of herbalism, including common medicinal herbs, basic preparations, safe usage practices, and ways to incorporate herbs into your everyday wellness routines. Perfect for beginners, this hour-long class combines practical knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the healing traditions of plants. At Nature’s Door is so excited to welcome Dr. Laura Zaranski, L.Ac, M.S.O.M, from East Wind Acupuncture to teach about the Basics of Herbalism. Hopefully the first of many sessions, Dr. Laura will be focusing on herbs that we carry at our shop in this first class! Class is $20 per person and will include herbal tea refreshments.
